Introduce of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC)

Introduce of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell – Fuel Cell CoatingCheersonic

I. Definition
Fuel cells can be divided into five categories according to the type of electrolyte: alkaline fuel cells (AFC), phosphoric acid fuel cells (PAFC), molten carbonate fuel cells (MCFC), solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) and proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC). The current market shipment types are dominated by proton exchange membrane fuel cells and solid oxide fuel cells.
Solid oxide fuel cells, a device that uses electrochemical reactions to generate electricity without a Carnot cycle, are far more efficient than other power generation devices, and the main products are CO2 and water.

II. Advantages
SOFC has high power generation efficiency (its own power generation efficiency is close to 60%, and the efficiency in combination with hot gas turbine can reach more than 80%), high efficiency of combined heat and power supply (the waste heat temperature is 400°C-600°C, and the efficiency of combined heat and power supply is more than 90%), saving water resources (2% of the water consumption of traditional power generation), green environment protection, easy modular assembly, wide range of fuel selection (natural gas, coal gas, biomass gas, methanol, etc. can be used), and the advantages of SOFC. It is a fuel cell with high application prospects because it does not require precious metal catalysts and is highly adaptable.

III. Application areas
SOFC is used in a wide range of applications, including portable power supplies, distributed power generation/co-generation systems, high performance power supplies, large power stations, transportation and household cogeneration. At present, SOFC is mainly used in household cogeneration projects and cannot be applied to large power stations. This is due to the fact that SOFC itself has many disadvantages, such as: high working temperature, long start-up time, high material requirements, persistent sealing problems and high component manufacturing costs.

Introduce of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell - Fuel Cell Coating - Cheersonic

Cheersonic ultrasonic coating systems produce highly durable, uniform, coatings of carbon-based catalyst inks onto both fuel cell and electrolysis processes for proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzers such as Nafion, without deformation of the membrane. There is benchtop ultrasonic coater UAC4000L which is popular in laboratory R&D and low volume production.
