Direct Spray Catalyst Ink

Direct Spray Catalyst Ink – Ultrasonic CoatingCheersonic

A membrane electrode assembly (MEA) prepared by directly spraying catalyst ink on a water-swellable membrane was used for PEM water electrolysis. In the new manufacturing process, hot water is entered as a swelling agent and heat source to improve the dimensional stability of Nafion 117 during spraying. In this way, the membrane also avoids shrinkage during drying of the catalyst ink. Compared with the conventional MEA, the obtained MEA exhibited larger voltammetric charge Q at the anode and higher performance, which may be due to the enlarged surface area of the membrane during the catalyst spraying process. The effect of swelling temperature on the conductivity and water absorption performance of Nafion 117 was also studied in the electrolytic cell. The results show that the swelling spray method has the potential to prepare high-quality MEAs for PEM water electrolysis.
