Ultrasonic Spray for Nanomaterial Thin‑Film Deposition
Ultrasonic spray technology is available for thin‑film fabrication of various advanced nanomaterials including carbon nanotubes, silver nanowires, perovskites, graphene, quantum dots and conductive polymers like PEDOT. It converts liquid suspensions into soft, low‑velocity mist to produce highly uniform films on diverse substrates. The atomization process mitigates nanoparticle agglomeration and preserves dispersion stability, delivering tunable film thickness and well‑defined nanoscale morphology. Compared with spin‑coating and dip‑coating, this technique is better suited for large‑area processing and can fabricate transparent conductive electrodes with low sheet resistance, covering scales from lab‑scale coupons to roll‑to‑roll wide‑web production.
This spraying method breaks up soft agglomerates without damaging nanomaterials and minimizes nozzle clogging while improving material utilization. Coatings formed show favorable adhesion on polymers, glass, metals and flexible substrates. The process finds wide applications in conductive films, electromagnetic interference shielding, flexible sensors, optoelectronic devices and solar cells. It can also be combined with electrostatic technology for hybrid deposition to further boost transfer efficiency and coating adhesion performance.
