Proton-exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) are considered to be a promising technology for clean and efficient power generation in the twenty-first century. Proton exchange membranes (PEMs) are the key components in fuel cell system. The researchers have focused to reach the proton exchange membrane with high proton conductivity, low electronic conductivity, low permeability to fuel, low electroosmotic drag coefficient, good chemical/thermal stability, good mechanical properties and low cost. The core of the fuel cell is the membrane electrode assembly (MEA), which consists of two parts, the electrocatalyst and the membrane. It is in this part that the process of current generation (electrochemical reaction) will be completed. The function of the membrane between the electrodes is to conduct the generated protons from the anode to the cathode. The available ions move through the electrolyte membrane towards the cathode, where water and heat from free electrons are generated.
