Drug Balloon Delivery and Release
Drug Balloon Delivery and Release – Balloon Catheter Coating System – Cheersonic
The drug balloon rapidly releases anti-proliferative drugs to the blood vessel wall through balloon expansion, which can achieve the ultimate concept of “intervention without implantation” in the treatment of coronary stenosis. The safety and efficacy of drug balloons in stent stenosis and small blood vessels have been well verified. At present, the application of drug balloons in patients with bifurcation lesions, large blood vessels, and high bleeding risk has been supported by more and more evidence-based medicine, and its application will tend to increase.
Drug Balloon Delivery:
Due to the larger outer diameter, it is more difficult to deliver than the general balloon. When the target lesion is far away, extremely twisted, or has obvious calcification in the proximal segment, it is necessary to be alert to the failure of drug balloon delivery. Solution: choose better support guide catheter; extend the catheter; double guide wire; deep insertion of the guide catheter, etc. After the drug balloon is taken out of the package, avoid contact with hands or liquids, and the Y valve is fully opened before feeding. It should be delivered to the target lesion as soon as possible. After the first delivery failure, repeated use is not recommended. The drug balloon should cover at least 2 mm near or far from the pretreatment site.
Drug Balloon Release:
Slowly pressurize to the named pressure (or to a higher pressure), and then maintain it for a long enough time (30s is sufficient for sufficient drug release, but it is better to extend to 120s, which can reduce the incidence of dissection). After the drug balloon is withdrawn, avoid withdrawing the guide wire immediately. Observe for 5-10 minutes and then perform angiographic evaluation to observe whether there is severe dissection and whether stent replacement is necessary (although the incidence is low, it is still possible).
The Balloon Catheter Coating System is a special spray system designed for drug eluting balloons that provides a uniform drug coating to the balloon catheter through ultrasonic spray technology. Ultrasonic Coating System can also be used to adjust and control the deposition process of drug coatings for different liquid formulations. With the help of a special fixing device design, the entire balloon catheter can be sprayed with a maximum spraying length of 280 mm., It also has the functions of solvent doping, pre-heating, humidity control, and drying. The equipment has the characteristics of precise application amount, uniform film layer, and high utilization rate of chemical liquid. Cheersonic has extensive experience in surface coating of implantable medical devices (such as drug stents and balloons), and can provide customers with complete solutions.
